All of our recalled items were toys, but there were several of them over about a 2 year span. We had toy cars that were recalled for lead paint, a toy farm house that was recalled due to a choking hazard and a large play table in which children could get their arm stuck in! All of the items we had recalled were very easy to fix or get replacements for.
I don't know why I stopped watching for recalls, but in an effort to start doing better, I'm going to start featuring some recalls here on my blog.
Why is this important? Well take toys, for example, in 2007 there were 18 toy-related deaths in the US and around 232,900 toy-related injuries that were treated in emergency rooms, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. 73% of these injuries were to children under 15 and 34% were to children under 5 years.
In addition to toy-related deaths and injuries, nursery products pose a huge risk to children under 5 years. (Nursery products include cribs, car seats, high chairs, strollers, play pens and baths.) In 2007 there were around 62,500 emergency room treated injuries caused by nursery products in children under 5. And 238 children under the age of 5 died in a 3 year period due to nursery products.

About 4,300 Step2 Play Up Gym play sets sold at Toys R Us were recalled in May 2009 due to fall hazard.
About 71,000 Eddie Bauer Soothe & Sway Play Yards sold online and at Target, Sears and Burlington Coat Factory were recalled in May 2009 due to a suffocation hazard.
About 2,900 Bonavita “Hudson” and Babi Italia “Pinehurst” Drop Side Cribs sold at Babies “R” Us, Baby Basics, Beautiful Beginnings, and Buy Buy Baby stores and other retailers were recalled this month due to entrapment and suffocation hazards.
About 2,000 Bonavita “Cabana” Drop Side Cribs sold at USA Baby, Beautiful Beginnings, Buy Buy Baby and other retailers were recalled this month due to entrapment and strangulation hazards.
About 22,500 Bugaboo Bee Strollers sold online and at various retailers were recalled due to risk of brake failure.

I just had to get a piece replaced on Cooper's exercsaucer that was part of a recall. I didn't know that it was a problem, but feel much better now. Thanks for the link!
I heard about the crib recall...so scary that these things would be sold without ample ample ample testing. Honestly, these are babies and innocent lives companies are dealing with
